Your Elevator Pitch

You meet someone new and in the first few seconds they ask, ”what do you do?” Do you just rattle off, “uh…I’m in the furnace business…sort of…”? Or, while displaying good posture, good eye contact, and smiling, do you deliver the perfect Elevator Pitch?

An Elevator Pitch is a quick summation of what you sell or what you make. It’s only 20 to 30 seconds long, but can easily be delivered to a new acquaintance, and it easily invites questions and interest.

These few sentences convey the major concepts in the time that it takes for an elevator to go from the bottom floor to the top floor. For your brand to penetrate and make an impact that builds relationships with your prospects, a portion of it should express your brand essence in a way that’s memorable and can be easily shared without diluting its meaning.

As an example, here is the Elevator Pitch I use for my Consulting Business:
“Hi, I’m Greg McAfee; I teach HVAC business owners how to take their businesses to the next level. In our state of the art training facility, I hold business classes and boot camps. I help them put systems in place; share branding techniques and share tips on balancing family time and business time. Nice to meet you”!
